Rasocrete Applications

SIDEWALKS

There are two types of concrete sidewalks, those that already have cracked and those that inevitably will crack. Concrete sidewalks typically crack and deteriorate because of temperature, seismic activity and, perhaps most notably, because of heaving tree roots. Italkem has a better idea. Employ a pavement material that works for your community, not against it. Rasocrete, a world wide patented product by Italkem, is a flexible, porous, eco-friendly and sustainable solution to sidewalks that have for any number of reasons deteriorated and failed.

  • Rasocrete is a porous pavement material that allows for instant and uniform drainage thus supporting stormwater management efforts. Water drains through the Rasocrete product promoting deep tree rooting and thus mitigating root heaving and subsequent sidewalk cracking.

  • Flexibility is an important advantage to a Rasocrete sidewalk. Rasocrete’s flexibility is engineered into the Rasocrete material mitigating cracking and deterioration resultant from the movement of subsoil. Rasocrete creates a safe and  non-slip surface in both wet and dry conditions and is ADA compliant.

  • Rasocrete is sustainable, durable, and low maintenance making its life cycle costing lower than other pavement type materials including concrete. Rasocrete then is a cost-effective option for the replacement of deteriorating sidewalks.

TREE SURROUNDS

Rasocrete doesn’t just accommodate tree roots, it serves to enhance the aesthetic value of the tree itself. While metal grates and dirt pits tend to elicit weed growth and liter and thus maintenance costs and burdens, Rasocrete is a seamless and adaptable tree surround material that has little to no maintenance requirements.

  • Sustaining individual tree health and the preservation of urban tree canopies is a major Rasocrete benefit attributable to its flexible nature. Rasocrete’s environmentally conscious design enables air and water into the subsoil so that tree roots can intuitively grow downward instead of upward due to being restricted from water access

  • All Rasocrete products are mixed on site and poured in place. Importantly, there are a variety of aggregate sizes and colors that can be customized to fit your project needs and specifications.

  • Rasocrete tree surrounds are a cost efficient solution when compared to the life cycle cost of alternative options.

STREETS

Pavement solutions need to be as diverse as the environments in which they exist. Italkem through its design and engineering can control the varying and nuanced porosity demands of the Rasocrete material thus fitting a variety of pavement applications. Rasocrete’s versatility makes it well-suited for parking lots, roads, outdoor plazas with high pedestrian foot traffic, pot-hole and manhole repair and much more.

  • Due to its high load bearing capacity and its durability, Rasocrete is well suited for vehicular applications. Its notable strength allows it to easily withstand heavy pedestrian traffic and light to heavy automotive and truck traffic and all road applications in between.

  • For projects requiring quick drainage and rapid drying, Rasocrete’s permeable pavement can serve as effective stormwater management and filtration tool.

  • Rasocrete pavements are extremely long lasting and require minimal maintenance and refurbishment.

  • Rasocrete is durable for a multitude of reasons including but not limited to its freeze-thaw resistance.. Water will not settle within Rasocrete’s interior where it could potentially freeze and expand. This is due to Rasocrete’s porosity and the fact the water filters and drains through the Rasocrete material at a rapid rate.

trails

Coastal and urban park trails are enhanced by Rasocrete’s aesthetic and functional properties. Non-slip and sturdy, Rasocrete will withstand heavy use and changing weather conditions to keep trails, paths, parks, and public facilities usable, safe, and beautiful.

  • Rasocrete is non-flammable and impervious to alkaline, acid and saline conditions that typically erode or expedite the deterioration of other materials.

  • Rasocrete is available in various porosities, thicknesses, color and granulometry so as to achieve the desired aesthetic to enhance any given project.

  • Rasocrete is certified non-slip in both  wet or dry conditions and is ADA compliant. The Rasocrete material is customizable and easy to install  such that   pedestrians can safely use the newly installed sidewalk withi in just 24 hours and even perhaps as soon as within 2 hours if a specialized curing catalyst is used.

custom

Beyond the typical applications presented  here, Rasocrete is customizable to address virtually any project needs regardless of that project’s uniqueness. This is accomplished by engineering  specific modifications to its porosity, thickness, and color. Italkem engineers will work with prospective customers, world wide to meet a customer’s specific needs.
